Nintendo gave gamers a sneak peek at the Switch 2, but little else. Here's what the teaser video confirmed, plus the rumors still swirling around the upcoming console.

If we had to judge by the included diagrams, the trigger and bumper on each controller would act as the mouse click. Multiple included images show a hand with the thumb on the joystick. Multiple parts of the patent mention the use of the thumbstick, and we suspect it could act as the scroll wheel or serve some other scrolling function.

When Nintendo first unveiled the Switch 2 last month, we (and everyone else) noticed something peculiar about the new Joy-Con controllers. Now, some recently unearthed patent filings more or less confirm all the theories.

Fans have been speculating about PC gaming mouse-like functionality for the Switch 2 ever since optical sensors appeared in leaks last month. Nintendo then teased the feature in the new Switch’s reveal trailer shortly after.

There are rumors out there but we will focus on the confirmed (and very likely, based on evidence) Nintendo Switch games we know about so far. Many are by indie developers and already illustrate the diversity in games the Switch 2 will offer.
