Migration from Russia and Belarus into EU jumps by almost 200pc

Russia is de facto annexing Belarus. Although this process is not yet complete, it has reached a stage where the Kremlin can threaten NATO's eastern countries and Ukraine through its satellite, warns the Institute for the Study of War. In achieving its goals, Moscow will utilize the geographical, economic, and human resources of the neighboring country. This process will not end even with the possible departure of Vladimir Putin, according to the analysis by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

The migrants who had been staying in Belarus in the area near the Polish border have been transported towards Russia, as reported by Colonel Andrzej Stasiulewicz of the Border Guard. The officer suggested that Alexander Lukashenko may be preparing for the upcoming presidential elections. "At some point, we noticed that migrants are being moved towards Russia from the border zone. Lukashenko might be interested in ensuring peace in the country ahead of the presidential elections," emphasized Stasiulewicz. However, he refrained from predicting what could happen to the people who have remained in the border area until now.

Migrants who had been in Belarus near the Belarusian-Polish border have been seen being driven away in the direction of Russia, Colonel Andrzej Stasiulewicz of the Polish Border Guard Service has reported. Quote from Stasiulewicz: "At a certain point, we noticed that migrants were being taken from the border zone towards Russia. [Self-proclaimed president Alexander] Lukashenko likely wants to ensure calm in the country ahead of the presidential elections."

Analysts argue that Belarus is no longer just a Russian ally. Instead, the Kremlin is transforming it into a strategic partner to help extend Moscow’s influence globally. The Kremlin plans to leverage its gains in Belarus to offset the costs of its prolonged war against Ukraine, accelerate Russia’s recovery, and prepare for future conflicts.
